 There are two main types of fibres used: natural fibre and man-made fibre (synthetics or petroleum based). Some pure fibres happen to be linen, the first employed historically, hemp, cotton, the virtually all utilized, ramie, wool, silk and recently bamboo or soya. Some synthetic fibres happen to be polyester, tencel, viscose, etc. Polyester blended with cotton (poly-cotton) can often be used. Fabric for shirts are named shirtings. The four key weaves for shirtings will be simple weave, oxford, twill and satin. Broadcloth, poplin and end-on-end are variants of the ordinary weave.
